KsTU Donates a Vehicle and motorbikes to the Police Command to help with Security Off Campus

The Vice-Chancellor(VC), Ing. Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw, as part of his vision to augment security off-campus in collaboration with the Management of the University has donated a Nissan pickup vehicle and two motorcycles to the Police Command to aid police patrol and boost security operations in the Adako Jachie Community.

Keys to the vehicle were handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Administration at a ceremony held at the New Great Hall of the University. It would be used by personnel at the Adako-Jachie campus Police Station. The vehicles were presented by the Vice-Chancellor and his Management team.

In January 2022, KsTU commissioned a multipurpose Police Post for the Ghana Police Service at Adako Jachie in the Ashanti Region. The facility, which houses a cell, a station and CID offices, and washrooms, is to beef up security at the University’s campus and its adjoining communities. To support the police in crime combat, KsTU promises continued commitment in addition to other responsibilities.

Commissioner of Police, (COP) Ken Winful who represented the Regional Commander, praised the University authorities for their support. He said it is important for all to accept to share in the responsibility of promoting security and crime prevention. COP Winful entreated the officers at Adako-Jachie to work effectively with the logistics provided and not misuse them.

On his part, the VC called for greater cooperation between the public and the police in the maintenance of law and order. He said he is confident that the patrol vehicle would enable the police to provide adequate security protection for students and staff in and outside the University campuses. The University, he said, would continue to do everything it could to help address some of the logistical challenges facing the police.

He reiterated that the presence of the Police post at Adako-Jachie has helped reduce the crime rate in the community and the Chief of Adako-Jachie has expressed his appreciation for the Police Post, he added.
